DietStudy.com Possible SCAM?
DietStudy.com seems to me to be a scam. It sounds legit and they will tell you that they are legit but they are not. There are 118 reports filed against them in the BBB (Better Business Beareu).
DietStudy advertises on the radio that they will pay you $1000 dollars to participate in a diet study. You have to qualify by going to their website and answering a few questions. What is funny though is they are just part of the show. DietStudy.com uses these to distract you. You can put any answer you wish into the fields and still make. You can select to loose 200 to 240 lbs which any doctor will tell you no matter how you loose that much weight if its done in a 90 day period you can die. Once you have selected anything you get a dynamic number to use to call in to a 1-800 line. DietStudy.com has some answering service answer the phone. They will build you up and reask all those questions you submited on DietStudy.com. They do this because the code is not real. Once you answer those they tell you about this One Day Diet program. They build you up and keep saying imagine your self in that swimsuit this summer 20 lbs lighter. DietStudy.com keeps telling you this. Why? Because they are about to blindside you with what the program is about. They will then tell you that you qualify for the study. WOW! It really was that easy? You can hear in the background other DietStudy.com represenatives talking to others saying that they qualify too. WOW! What a great program! Everyone qualifies for $1000 dollars! If only it were this easy! After they tell you this the person on the phone then says..."now sir imagine your self right now being 20 lbs lighter this summer and getting all the girls you could ever want....now all you need to do is enroll!." Im like sure! Wow if i could ever be so lucky! "Sir, we do have to ask you for a deposit of 115 dollars." At this point I was asked why. She goes on to explain to me that its to make sure your serious and it will be refunded plus you will get the $1000 dollars at the end too. This gal on the phone from DietStudy.com goes on to explain to me that during the study i will need to get refills of the pills aswell. I will need a total of two fo these before the study is over. The cost of these is $75 dollars each. I said that I believed it was a scam and she said NO NO NO NO NO! We do send a contract laying out all this that will state that you will get your $1000 at the end. I asked to see the contract and she stated taht it will come in the mail 10 days AFTER I purchase the $115 dollars DietStudy.com package. I asked if there is a PDF she could send me or even if she could read the contract to me. At this point she says "no but sir we are not a scam if thats what you think" (which at this time I was begining to think that DietStudy.com is a huge scam) "I mean sir we are not legally allowed by the FCC to advertise a scam on the radio". Now this statement is true which means that someone somewhere will get paid their $1000 dollars. But this also means that they have many loop holes to save their selves that $1000 dollars. Through the whole phone call I act very wishy washy and asked to cancel the order. Each time I ...yes I was shot down and told everything will be okay. She then goes on to say that she is adding a $39.95 bottle of some vitamin to my order aswell. I told her NO I WANT TO CANCEL THE ENTIRE ORDER! She said okay so no $39.95. She then goes on to say "Sir just think of it as a small investment in your health and your perfect figure you will have". Now if you ask me if this is a scientfic study why all the sales talk. Why pushing someone who seems reluctant to purcase from DietStudy.com. Its obvious that I DO NOT WANT THIS PRODUCT!
From this phone call and further research online I have come to a conclusion that DietStudy.com in my opinion only is a scam. I got the feeling that DietStudy.com will rip you off. DietStudy.com is a company NOT a research lab. I WOULD NOT TRUST DIETSTUDY.COM. They have complaints against them in the BBB. Don't believe me...Take a look yourself:
One Day Diet/Products for Life/DietStudy.com is looking for participants in, what they claim, is a weight-loss study. When a BBB rep, posing as a potential customer, called the company, she was told that the typical weight loss was 20-30 pounds in 90 days. The "One Day Diet" consists of weight-loss tablets, supplements and dieting every other day. There is a $150 "deposit" for the first month and $75 per month charge for the following months. At the end of the 3-month "study," the money is supposed to be refunded, and $1,000 is supposed to be paid to the participant. The BBB rep was also told that the company is a BBB member. Not true! 118 complaints have been filed against this Wisconsin company, and they have the Bureau's lowest rating. If you want more proof just google DietStudy Scam, Dietstudy, Dietstudy.com and other like terms.
-BBB (http://www.fortwayne.bbb.org/alerts/20060301.html)
Also thier support number is horrid. If you call that number it goes though a recording of a guy YELLING at you to use thier online FAQs which have no valuable information at all.
I will add a disclaimer to all of this. This is only my view and could be wrong. It is possible that DietStudy.com is a legit company and DietStudy.com can manage to payout to everyone that qualifies (which is everyone in the world) a nice lump sum of $1000 dollars.
UPDATE
I have viewed the contract for this. It states in the contract that ONLY 1,000 participatants will be choosen to be paid 1,000 dollars. This mean not everyone that is involved will be paid. Im guessing it will only be the ones that did the best on the program and lost the most weight. I will not upload the entire contract up here just because it could be breaking laws.
Also, I have been corrected. The acuall company that is doing this studdy is not The One Day Diet but a company called Products For Life. I do want to restate that this entire blog is my opinion and only mine. My comments are just telling you about MY experence with this company. I am in no way able to prove that they are a scam therefore this blog remains only what I have gone through with them.

My husband came home tonight and talked about the information that he'd heard on the radio. So, I called the number to see what was up (we both need to lose weight). I was okay until the guy said, we'll need a deposit. That was the first HUGE red flag.
I politely told the representative that I would need to discuss it with my husband and I would call them back.
I hung up the phone, got on the internet and found your blog.
I'm sorry that you had to go through this, but thanks for being the voice in the dark who is helping many to not part with their hard earned money.
UGH!!! I searched and searched a month ago for info on this and couldn't find anything! So I signed up! Not only do I HATE HATE HATE this diet!!!!! I know they are taking my money and now I am Stuck! DON"T SIGN UP!!!!!!!! Good news is I will be selling my next packs on Ebay to recover some of my money!
I couldn't find anything on it either and signned up even though I thought it could be a scam. I'm sure that there will be some problem with my submission of pics but on the bright side I have lost 8 pounds in 9 days so I may stick it out and see since I do seem to be losing weight and I can stick to it just to see what happens at the end of 90 days. I figure at least I'm losing weight and I with the stress on my job I know I won't stick to a normal diet right now
Its funny how people have too much free time to write all this crap about things they dont know anything about. And I like that way the person said, im sure they will find something wrong with my pics, if you did the pics like u were suppose to, then u have nothing to worry about. People who ill informed about things concerning rules, laws and stuff shouldnt run there mouths and last of all, are you sure that you have the right company with the BBB? Cause there are 4 companys that offer the dietstudy.com, so make sure u get ur facts correct before you go crying to the BBB.
the name of the company is Products for life and they are based in reno, NV. The company has been around for 10 years
UPDATE ON DIETSTUDY.COM,
As I stated before they did charge me due to the one lady in the call center not allowing me to cancel the order. I did contact them by phone and was treated very rudley. What do you expect...I was demanding to get back what they took from me. I did however email their support and was treated very well there. They do use Yahoo email addresses for the cancelation processes but they told me that they would refund the product and cancel the shipment. It took a while for the charges to be reversed but finally they were. Yes the company name is Products For Life as this is what is shown on my creditcard. I did state in my blog that I DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE if this is a scam but definilty seems to be. Yes it is possible that everything will turn out okay. Just doesnt make since how everyone and their brother can get 1000 dollars and all their money back. How does the company make money then?
I keep this blog open to all comments. If your comment is for or against my post I will allow it. If your a Products for Life Employee such as this last 3 posts seem to be...then at least be kind. This is a blog and things are posted the way the people feel. DONT COME INTO MY BLOG and start cussing everyone out! That will get your comments removed! I will allow those to post that are for or against but dont be rude to the others that left comments already. Thanks you.
Im not an employee but a participant on the study, i have been treated very well by the company and the study. I just believe that people need to get there information correct before they go ruining a good companys name with lies and false information.
F.Y.I.- I guess we ALL have too much free time to write this crap. INCLUDING YOU!!!.
I just wanted to point out the BBB is in place to "cry" to for a reason. I don't particularly find it to be unreasonable to contact them if you feel you are being scammed by a business. I think more people should be aware and cautious when dealing in areas such as this. It's certainly not an uncommon occurence that many people have lost a lot of money to fraudulent practices.
Hey anonymous at 12:51.....did you get you $1000 yet?
I heard this on the radio a few minutes ago and called myself. the guy tried so hard to sell me I thought it might be a scam to me that I didn't complete my order and said I'd call back. I came online and found this blog.
I have a friend who participated in a diet study at the University of PA Hospital. She had to sign a contract and have her private physician complete a lot of paperwork before she was allowedto participate and she only got $50.00 a month a free parking at the hospital.
Diet study my foot.
argh i got screwed i dont expect the thousand dollars, but i do expect results for something im paying 300 bucks for...we will see i guess..
I was happy to find other people who had doubts about this diet. I paid the $150 and am under the impression that's all I pay. So far I haven't seen any more charges but after reading so much about this study I am expecting them. I did email them and ask if I will be charged more, so we will see what they say or if I even get a response. This diet makes me feel horrible !!!
I called and ordered the study - but 10 minutes later after a little research I decided to cancel. I checked my online bank statement and there were no pending payments for Products For Life - so I called the customer support # and sat on hold for 20 minutes. Rep Monica #492 told me that since the order had not gone through yet that they could "try" and stop it. I will have to wait and see. Has anyone else had trouble canceling the program?
I did the same thing...ordered and 10 minutes later canceled. They said the same thing that they would try and well they didnt. The charge went through. I had to end up emailing them that night and they credited me back the money and said they stoped the shippment. Funny things is the shippment showed up 10 days later at my post office where I pick up my mail. I had to get a RMA number to return the package just because im a good guy. I acually dont think they would have noticed if I just kept this package though.
I wanted to let everyone know that they emailed me back and informed me that it's $150.00 the first month, 75.98 the 2nd and 59.99 the third which is NOT what they told me when I enrolled in the program.
Supposedly 150 was all it cost, which is supposed to be refunded IF you qualify. I think there is a fat chance of that.
My opinion. Got suckered in.
Just FYI... I have lost 15 pounds so far on the diet and I have been on it for a month and a half, just the diet no working out or walking. Also it is true that they told me on the phone only the first 1,000 people get the $1,000, but if you follow all the instructions you will get at least your $300 deposit back at the end.
Yeah I got suckered as well. Well, live and learn right? next time someone pumps me up, and then askes for money...blah...
I haven't had any problems with it, but I guess I should tell you that I decided against taking a before and after picture. It wasn't like I was heavey enough to do all that. I just needed an insentive to lose about 20 pounds and I figured that the thousand dollar deal sound good! I heard it on the radio and jumped at the opprotunity to make alittle money and lose alittle weight at the same time (not figuring in all the crap they wanted me to send in).I have only received two shipments so far,I don't know if Im suppose to get another. I have lost 9 pounds in 9 days and lots of inches. I want receive the thousand because I did not return the info in time, but Im happy so far with the weight loss.
Well, I don't know if this is a scam or not, but I have been on the Diet for about a month and a half. I lost 8 1/2 pounds first week, 3 1/2 pounds the second week, and have been averaging about 2 pounds a week since. I have lost about 20 lbs total so far. I like the diet, it is easy to follow. I exercise 3 to 4 times a week. It would be nice to win the money and it would be nice to get my money back, but I am just happy that it is working for me. This is the only diet I have tried, and I have tried many, that seems to work, and it is easy to follow with my busy schedule.
So if you are like me and have spent probably $1000's in dollars to find a diet that works, spending a little more for something that does work doesn't bother me. If I had know this would have worked this good, I would have bought it without the promise of $1000 bucks. But, it would be nice to get the money anyway. We will see.
I used to work for the company, I dont belive in anything they sell at all, i think its all a total scam.
